Pretty Fairies in Tamworth

Back to our trip to Tamworth for a moment

One of the best things about friends being photographers, (and having the most gorgeous children) is an outing to somewhere pretty and having fun with the cameras. With the youngest two in fairy-dresses, it was a photographers delight – with gorgeous light to boot. Amanda’s four girls are all just magic in front of the camera. Each so different in personality. Honestly I could photography them all day every-day. And it’s no wonder Amanda does! (You must check out her beautiful blog HERE!)

Something for photographers: If you didn’t already know, Amanda also produces a variety of Actions for Photoshop and Presets for Lightroom. Whilst I generally use my own creations, I adore Amanda’s Actions and have used such in this blog post

Tamworth – part II

More from our whirlwind trip to Tamworth to visit Amanda and her family. I’ll be honest, most of these (actually all baring one or two!) were taken on the iPhone, yep I’m a sucker for the iphone, and a lover of Instagram. I love how moments from everyday life can be captured so easily. And lets face it, what’s a holiday without a few iPhone “selfies” enjoy! x

The Road to Tamworth – part I

Term 1 of school went super quickly! Feels like only yesterday we were putting names on pens and pencils and buying a new lunchbox! All of a sudden it’s Easter holidays! We decided to take a BIG road-trip. One of my bestest photography friends Amanda moved to Tamworth from Sydney just over two years ago, and I haven’t been able to “catch up” with her since we photographed a wedding together in Wollongong. So off we went.

On Easter Sunday we left home around 1pm and got into West Wyalong for the night just after 9pm. For Easter I made the boys each a Brair Bunny, (although finishing them in the car I put the heads on incorrectly, but shhhh! don’t tell the boys!) and they were a hit. E named his Lucus Parker and Ash named his Jackson. We found some great parks along the way for the boys to play and stretch our legs, and all in all, for 9 hours of adventure, we had a pretty different and nice Easter!

Lynette & Paul | Country Wedding Photography

Lynette & Paul met at a local nightclub, and later Paul surprised Lynette with a gondola ride along the Yarra River where he proposed with a custom made ring! (How romantic is that!!!)

Every aspect of their wedding had personal touches. Lynette wore a beautiful, elegant gown made of sequins, with a long train veil borrowed from her best friend. The venue is owned by Lynette, and her wedding was the first (hopefully of many!) held in her gorgeous venue Lady Lavender’s Tea Rooms in Bunyip.

With a sister for a florist, the wedding was a something out of a flower show, absolutely amazing (I could have spent all day photographing all the floral details! The reception was a fun, relaxed – party atmosphere. We didn’t spent very long with the formal portraits so the bridal party could enjoy celebrating with their guests – but as you can see walking only steps from the church, was just the most beautiful and romantic places for us to photograph.

And I have to mention that the Bride & Groom had a pretty interesting argument leading up to the day. Being their own DJ’s for the reception, they had a difference of opinion on what should be played. For a die-hard Elvis fan, having his wife-to-be putting her foot down and refusing Elvis to be played, well…. (wait til you see…. that’s all I’m saying!)

Project 11/11 – March

“The days are so long, but the years are so short”

Monday 11th March : In Melbourne, we are in one of those horrible over 30 degrees heatwaves. It feels like it will never end! So with 11/11 falling on a public holiday, we had a lazy day. We cooked breakfast, checked on the herb garden before the weather got too hot (and someone ‘planted’ a football…. not sure why really), the cat had a run-in with spray paint (don’t ask!) so had to have a haircut (poor thing, she was just growing back the fur from her injury), we watched several movies lazing on the couch while I knitted (cute bunnies for Easter, pattern by the AMAZING Amanda Keeys – if you enjoy knitting you must check out her shop HERE!). The boys ‘got bored’ so we built a cubby house (quite a highlight as we were allowed in mummy’s office, and used studio gear to built it….)

The last image was actually taken today, however the damage was done last night, a mozzie decided to make the boys room a kitchen. Poor Ash got the grunt of it. 6 bites on his face, and today he’s known as ‘one-eyed Jack’.

About Project 11/11:
I am guilty of not taking enough images of my children. I did in the early years, hundreds and hundreds of images. But soon it was “oh no mummy not a photo”. And nothing to really document our lives. Mobile phones have bigger and better cameras now, and everyone is embracing the convenience of having a camera RIGHT THERE, at every moment. So another use for this project is to capture the everyday on the BIG camera, not just the iphone. And it also gives a slight insight that is the ‘fun crazy chaos’ of raising two boys and my day as a photographer.
