Today when you woke up, it seemed you had grown a foot overnight. The pants you wore last week (your favourites) are suddenly 4 inches too short. Last year you were one of the shortest at school, I’m wondering if this year you’ll be one of the tallest in your class…

No matter the temperature, my kids want in the pool. Wrinkly feet, water logged. Eman’s confidence in the water is already improving, day 1 he put his face in holding his nose, now he can swim underwater the length of the pool (it’s a few metres) He’s so happy with himself, all I hear is “MUM! look at this, MUM! look at me!!”

New Years Day. Day two of the “heat wave”. It wasn’t as “hot” as the day before, but the sun was extreme. Kris & the girls came over and the 4 younger ones were like little spitfires, running everywhere, off in a land of their own. Eman and the girls were testing us, by playing ON the stairs after making it clear that were not to play upstairs. They did this naturally when I caught their attention. Ash came running along, so whilst I didn’t technically stage this, it did require the bribe of a lolly to get them all looking at me at once!

Yesterday our dear friends came over. It was the first time Ash had seen Shae in a while. After a few months of the two of them not getting along so well, it seems that the few months apart (not to mention the fact that Ash now sleeps well due to his recent surgery) have done them good. They are the best of friends. I’ve never seen such excitement as today, when they girls came over again, Ash RUNNING to Shae squealing. Later on Ash was “posing” for me (i.e pulling faces, please see previous posts!) when Shae sat down, and the next thing you know they were hugging. Ash even gave Shae a kiss. But this stole the show:

Christmas Eve! We joined Janet’s family in celebrating, Danish style! The kids had so much fun, playing with little Ayla, unwrapping presents and drawing on the footpath with chalk. After a fantastic evening we heading home, just as Melbourne received a pretty amazing storm. Poor Ash was just beside himself, covering his eyes to shield from the lightning. After a while, he sang out “But mama, what about Santa & the Reindeer?!” It took about half an hour to convince him that Santa would be fine, as Santa is magic. The storms wont hurt him at all!
We put out cookies and milk, left Santa a Christmas card and went off to bed. Asleep before their heads hit the pillow!

I photographed Miss E back when she was a toddler, and boy she’s growing up to be so beautiful! We ran around the fairy tree (or 4) and tried to feed the ducks (although I think they’d been fed a few times already!) and even found some pinecones.
Great to see you again, I hope you enjoy the preview, many more to come in your gallery!

Last Wednesday, I did something I don’t usually do. I went to bed early. I had only just lay down when I heard a frightening sound. 4 minutes later we were calling an Ambulance. My two year old was struggling to breathe. Barking and gasping. It was truly one of the scariest moments I can remember. About 7 minutes later, not one but TWO ambulances arrived, one an ICU truck. The second they entered his room they confirmed what I was starting to think, Croup. So off we went in the ICU Ambulance to hospital. Thankfully it was calming down and with a high dose of medicine he was ok to come home. (Of course the late night disruption of sleep did not cause him to sleep in, typical!!!) The next day it was almost like nothing had happened. He recovered quickly and well, and was back to his usual self.. barring a slight husky voice!
So here is Mr Ash, who a few days before his ‘exciting’ ride allowed me to photograph him, whilst testing out a little location I’d found for Mr M‘s baby photography session. Whilst we are not the biggest fan of smiling towards the camera, I wouldn’t have it any other way.. He’s very independent, already, and just loves exploring..
