Ryan & Sarah – Edmonton, Canada Wedding Photography

“Ryan and I had both just returned from living in British Columbia (I was actually just home for a vacation) and we met at the local karaoke bar through a few of my longtime friends who hosted karaoke there. We spent nearly a year as just friends until Ryan asked me out on Valentine’s Day and we had our first of many French Onion Soup at the Keg dates”

It’s a little after this that I met Ryan & Sarah, in England at the start of 3 weektrip.  We did a 6 day tour together and instantly became friends.  After parting I decided to jump on a British Airways flight and met up with them again in Amsterdam.  On the first day there, I won my first ever AIPP APPA  Award.  That evening celebrating, Ryan asked me, “You’ll photograph our wedding yeah?”

(Ryan and Sarah on the way up the Eiffel Tower in Paris)

“What!? ” I exclaimed… “Are you proposing while your here??!”

“No…” he said, looking rather shocked.  “I’m never getting married…  But you will photograph our wedding yeah?!”

“We were treated to a trip to Cabo San Lukas in Mexico by Ryan’s parents who were celebrating their 20th anniversary and brought his whole family along. On our one date night away from the resort we went to a really nice Mexican restaurant with a live mariachi band. Without my knowledge Ryan had spoken to the band and got them to come over to our table and play Besame Mucho, which was once covered by the Beatles.

While they were playing and singing, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed. The table next to us was a local Cabo San Lucas family and they had taken pictures of the proposal and emailed them over to me later that evening.”  And I even have some of those images for you;)

So off I went on a big jet plane, to make the big journey to Edmonton, Canada.  I honestly wish I’d been there for much longer, but alas, it was only five days.  I had the most amazing time, meeting family and friends, and being part of the lead up to their special day.

“Our wedding day was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for better weather for an outdoor ceremony. And the ceremony was brilliant. It wasn’t too long or traditional. I love that I’d found a clarinet/marimba team that was willing to play Hey Ocean for us, a Canadian band from Vancouver, and one of both Ryan and my favourites. I enjoyed turning a few traditions on heads by eating appetizers with the rest of the wedding guests chatting on the balcony and I would wear my wedding dress every day if I could. It was super comfortable and looked stunning. Trees/nature was our wedding theme and teal and bronze the colours.”

I would say a special thanks to everyone who helped us prepare for the wedding, especially our parents and wedding party.”  Sarah.

Congratulations Ryan & Sarah, what a wonderful day, miss you all!! x

Werribee Mansion Wedding Photography | Sarah & Jay

Jay and Sarah met on a crisp autumn evening in 2010 at a dinner organised by Jay’s now sister in law Jillian and his brother Jay Vern.  During the night the romanced blossomed and Jay sneakily persuaded Sarah to give him her contact details, claiming that he wanted her input for an upcoming best man’s speech that he was giving at Jillian and Jay’s Vern’s wedding.  He asked her on a date the next day and the rest is history!

Three years later Jay surprised Sarah with a trip to Hamilton Island.  On the first evening they went for a walk along Catseye beach where Sarah found a half buried ‘message in a bottle’.  As she started reading the message which was from Jay, he dropped to one knee and proposed.  The romance followed with a private dinner on the beach.

It’s no surprise that their wedding day was classic, romantic and beautiful.  With the gorgeous Werribee Mansion as a stunning backdrop, fitting their day beautifully.  The sacred Chinese Tea Ceremony symbolised respect to older generations and acceptance into the family.  The tempo changed as celebrations spilled on into the Grand Ballroom.  Up until then, everything had gone totally to plan, when suddenly the DJ stopped the music to inform us we had to evacuate outside due to the fire department investigating.  Thankfully there was no fire (rather the use of a smoke machine elsewhere!), and the party continued!  Sarah & Jay are now settling into their new life in Trinidad where they have been re-located with work.

Congratulations Sarah & Jay, such a wonderful to be a part of!  xx

(excuse the Iphone image, we gathered all the important items such as memory cards / laptops, anything with wedding images on it, rather than the cameras! You just never know when there’s evacuations!)

Meagan & Daniel | Terindah Estate Wedding Photography

I met Meagan & Daniel for the first time on their wedding day, having spoken many times on Skype, all the way from the Cayman Islands (not jealous at all!)

In the words of the Bride & Groom themselves… “We met through knowing the same group of people in high school, friends of friends from a long time ago!  So one night we were both out at a gig watching a band we both liked and bumped into one another.  Hit it off from there and that was that!”

“Dan took me on a trip for my birthday, we went for a walk in the rainforest with a bottle of champagne to the bottom of a beautiful waterfall – Dan got down on one knee and proposed – I said YES! :)”

Meg & Dan got married at the beautiful yet rustic Terindah Estate.  The table setting caught our eye straight away, photos of each of the guests from younger days!  Their day had a rustic, natural, relaxed feel with a touch of retro!  And I have been told that I HAVE to mention to take a good look at the guys getting ready.  Dan’s bridal party wore traditional bow ties,  one small detail – no one knew how to do up a bow tie… So out came You-Tube and a production line of bow-tying!

Meanwhile the girls had a terrible (haha!) view of the sea, enjoying a very relaxed afternoon getting ready!

After a stunning day down in the Ballarine Peninsula, the night kicked off with some pretty hilarious speeches and the awesome Peter Yacono Productions getting everyone out on the dance-floor for hours!  When the time came to wrap up the reception, everyone piled into the (very handy!) bus to the local pub and kicked on til the wee hours of the morning!  I know Meg & Dan had an amazing time and are now settled back in the Cayman Islands.  Congratulations guys! xx

Ebony + Michael | Williamstown Wedding Photography

Ebony and Michael met through friends and after 3 years of dating got engaged, on their anniversary at Queenscliff Beach.  This gorgeous couple were surrounded by family and close friends as they exchanged their wedding vows in front of Michael’s Uncle, Paster Allan Herman at Westgate Vineyard Church.  Together we ventured around Williamstown’s gorgeous Botanical Garden’s and of course Williamstown Peir for their wedding photography.

Their reception at 501 Receptions in Footscray was themed as an Asian Banquet due to their love of Asian cuisine, as guests were treated to course upon course of amazing food!

Their wedding had many personal touches, of course being married by Michael’s Uncle, the stationary was all made by the groom (and how fantastic does it look!?) and two of Ebony’s Bridesmaids took charge of all things beauty!

Congratulations again Ebony and Michael!

Urban Love | Melbourne Engagement Photography

Meet Gillian & Josh!  This gorgeous pair are busy preparing their wedding next April, which Alex and I are super excited to photograph.  Gillian and I sat at one of our meetings discussing the amazing photo opportunities at their reception.   I’m pretty sure I sat there with a silly grin and big googly eyes as she described the wooden balcony in the ceiling of their reception room.  I have visions already!

We moved the engagement shoot forward, as Gillian had an amazing idea for her ‘Save the Date’ cards incorporating a photo, which I’ve seen and look absolutely fantastic!  We decided on an Urban theme, with lots of colour, with the graffiti alley ways in Melbourne’s CBD.  Such a gorgeous day, we also enjoyed the shade by the Yarra River.  In the lead-up to the AFL Grand Final, Federation Square was bustling with people and footballs, such a iconic symbol of Melbourne.  These guys turned a few heads as we stopped in the middle of the chaos for a few romantic images:)

Congratulations on your engagement again guys!  Bring on April 2014!
