The Session:

Newborns and babies are, quite simply, Gemma’s little muses.  Their purity and individuality is what creates art.  The opportunity to capture new life and to celebrate such a momentous occasion in your family’s life is an amazing thing.

Gemma combines her natural way with newborn babies and her photographic talent to create portraits unique to your baby, portraits you and further generations will treasure forever.

The Studio:

The studio is a small haven.  In the haze of bringing your new baby into the world I invite you to my studio, designed around baby’s needs and a peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  Located approx. 25 mins from Melbourne CBD, the residential studio has everything at our fingertips to keep everyone happy, smiling and, most importantly, beautifully photographed!

The Booking Process:

Maternity sessions are generally booked for around 34 weeks to ensure Mum-to-be is not too uncomfortable, but belly is beautifully round.

Newborn sessions can be booked in advance (highly recommended) noting your due date.  Once baby is born, we will book your session in.  Generally sessions are held during the week, at around 10am.  Weekends are available, however may be booked out in advance.  If baby is being born via c-section or induction, we can book your session prior to baby being born.

The Perfect Age:

As soon as Mum feels ready – the younger the better.  The perfect age for newborn sessions is around 6 -10 days.  All newborns in our website galleries are under 14 days old.  However, if baby is older, please do not feel discouraged.  All babies are beautiful, and each session is individual.  Another favourite age to capture is 6-8 months, when baby is sitting, smiling and starting to get cheeky!

Simplicity Sessions:

Simplicity sessions are a new addition to Iris Creations Photography.  They were designed to provide families with beautiful images of their growing family.  As any parent will know, as children grow their little personalities develop and a formal portrait session may seem like a daunting prospect.  Simplicity sessions are short and informal, generally outdoors and are 30 minutes duration …. just enough time to hold even the shortest of attention spans!  These sessions are held at various times of the year, so please email the studio to be placed on our database for information about the next Simplicity event.
