Meet me in Cognito – Melbourne Music Photography

Some of my blog readers and clients know that my photography career started in photographing live bands, as well as theatre & performance.  As this is such a different form of photography, I will soon be launching a dedicated website – GHS Photographica.  But as we know these things do take time, so for now, you can join me via the facebook page HERE.  If you know any young unsigned bands, feel free to pass the link on!

Below are some of the images captured at the Ding Dong Lounge in Melbourne recently, of the band, Meet me in Cognito.

Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick admin note to say that the office of Iris Creations Photography is officially closed for the holidays!

I hope that everyone has a WONDERFUL Christmas & a Very Happy (and SAFE) New Year.

We will be taking “emergency” calls and emails during this time, and by emergency, we refer to newborn sessions, Babies UNDER two weeks.  If your baby is born, please call ASAP to schedule your session.  We will be only offering STUDIO session (in Point Cook) during this time.

I’d also like to thank all my clients for their patience and understanding during the last two months, and especially with the latest dramas caused by the postal strike.  I hope that the working conditions and discussions go well for all involved, and that all mail and parcels are delivered ASAP!

The office will be closed for most of January, however calls and emails will be returned as soon as possible.  Voice mails and emails will not be checked on a daily basis.

2009 has been an amazing year, and 2010 will be just as exciting.  We have photographed many families, bellies and especially all our beautiful precious newborns!  If you are considering holding a session soon, please contact us to arrange as many dates in 2010 are already booking.

In the new year I will be showcasing a highlight package of 2009, and more exciting things are coming!  Of course thePROJECT is still going, and will be for the rest of summer, and I have lots of sessions still to showcase on the blog from the last (busy) two months!

And now, I’d like to showcase a modified version of our family Christmas Card (and especially for those family and friends who haven’t received theirs yet – SORRY!)  As many of my readers know my children are not fans of the camera, however I think we did fairly well to put the card together!

Once again, Merry Christmas!

Blake & Julia’s Wedding

Ok it’s been a while since I’ve posted, and I have to thank my very patient clients!  What a month it’s been.  We’ve had computer dramas, (all sorted now!) and then a trip to Brisbane for the wedding of the year!  I’m now back in action in Melbourne, however desperately playing catch up.  So if you have emailed in the last 7-10 days and haven’t heard, we are getting there and will be in touch!

For now, here’s a sample of the gorgeous wedding of Blake & Julia!  More on the LE Photography blog.

Paint the town RED!

The time has [FINALLY] come!  Welcome to the NEW Iris Creations Photography.  We have had a long and tiring facelift!!  Lots of things are changing, lots more new and exciting things to come!  As you may notice, we are now “red”!!

Well, our awesomely fantastic new logo.  When I say new, it’s new to lots of people, however was actually designed last year.  Yes it’s taken that long to re-do everything!  The logo & flourish concept was created by the wonderful Amy Lewis.

The overall design & branding concept was put together by the oh-so-awesome-at-everything-she-does Netra Chetty.  Honestly if it wasn’t for this women, my logo would have sat there being ignored for a LONG time (longer than it already has!)   And a massive thankyou to Ryan at 16ninjas for the overhaul on the blog!

So to celebrate the new-ness of the blog, there is a little competition.  Please sign up to the mailing list (in the above menu) by the 12th October, and 1 person will win a $200 voucher towards prints & products for your next Photographic Session with Iris Creations Photography!  Nice and easy!*  Be sure to pass onto family and friends and let them know of super simple competition!

As mentioned in the previous post, book & pay for a session by the 12th October to receive the 2009 rates.  2010 Pricing and Product range will be starting as of the 13th.  Sessions do not need to be held by that date, just booked.

There will be more news to come, many new products to show off, and lots of sessions to present, but for now, some images, taken over the last few months, in preparation for today, where we PAINT THE TOWN RED!

Something new is coming…

Be sure to keep stalking the blog… for something new is coming to Iris Creations Photography…

Thinking of booking in a session?  Please email Gemma before the 12th October to book in your session.  (Sessions do not need to be held by this date, just booked!)  The reason?  Our pricelist & product range is also changing slightly ;)  To get on the current rates, please be sure to book in your session now!  Newborn sessions can be booked in advance…

That’s it for now.. I’m in a cheeky mood and want to keep you all hanging ;)

Technical Issues & furry friends

Just a quick post, to say we were experiencing some technical issues with the computer system.

THANKFULLY, we have a very reliable back up system, so there is not stress of loss of images!  So no-one panic!!

However some emails from Thursday – Saturday are missing in the void, so if you have emailed me via the website, or directly on those days, PLEASE email me again, or call on 0423 323 185.

We are working on digging those emails out, however not sure how that will go!

Obviously there are some delays in production as we come back online!!

And because I cannot end a post without some images…

I’m going to show off my new baby!  As many of my blog readers will know last month we lost our youngest kitty.  We were hoping to get a friend for our eldest cat Sebbie, but also wanted to adopt a kitten so the boys could grow up with it, and it wouldn’t get too skittish with their likely roughness!  My youngest is just so in love with her, spends hours chasing her around!

So meet little Ophelia!  I have an absolute love for Shakespeare and also John William Waterhouse paintings, of which Ophelia appears a lot!  My cats have always been named after Shakespearean characters, or myths and being that she is soooooooo pretty, Ophelia just fitted beautifully!

There will be more images coming ;)

Couldn’t help myself! – Melbourne Baby Photography

I simply had to post a few more from Miss J’s session.  I have totally fallen in love with these two for a few reasons.  A, She sat (kind of) happily in my pram (which I’ve had for a number of years, however it hasn’t had MUCH use in photography until lately!) and also because of the expression on her face.  Now 99.5% of the time we try to get our children to “SMILE!” for the camera.  Saying this to them, is not going to make them smile, normally it just makes them more nervous!  As I say to all my clients, I’m not here to take a gallery full of images where the baby is “smiling” for the camera.  Sure, smiles are REALLY important and who doesn’t love a baby with their mouth smiling gummy goodness, but it’s images like these below that really make me tick :)

Showing a baby’s true personality, expressions they use day to day whilst discovering the world and in the process making artworks for your wall.
