4 months – Brisbane Baby Photography

This may be hard to believe, but I was very close to not taking my camera at all, to my recent trip to Brisbane.  In fact, until 5 minutes before I was leaving for the airport, I didn’t have it in my bag at all.  It was sitting on the table staring at me.  I even tweeted about not taking it, and how empowered that felt.  WOW.  I was going to have 6 days of no camera.  A minute after feeling empowered, I felt lost, so in went the camera and ONE lens.  MINIMAL.

Why wasn’t I going to take the camera?  The foot.  Well of course, I’m glad I did, but still think it’s rather amusing that darling Finn was very similar to my own two boys.  Full of smiles until I bring out the big black camera.  Then the smiles will suddenly disappear.  (unless I’m using the IPhone camera, or the compact snap camera)

But Finn was rather serious while I was there.  There were other things to concentrate on, like his Christening, teething, catching his toes & wind pain.  Yep the poor little man had some pretty nasty bouts of it.  But still, he’s adorable is he not??

Here are a few images of the 4 month old :)

Yes there are more to come :)  hehe ;)

All about Finn!

Last week I was lucky.  I got to escape the cold & winter of Melbourne, and spend 6 days in sunny Brisbane.  Did the weather put on a nice show?  Sure did!  28 one day, and beautiful sunshine for the Saturday – which hosted a special day for a very special little man.  Mr Finn, on his 4 month ‘birthday’ had his Christening/Naming Day/Welcoming Ceremony/Dedication.  And I became officially his Godmother!  So not proud am I??

His ‘gown’ was a vintage find from the 1940’s, and Rod, who married Finn’s Parents & Aunt & Uncle, led the beautiful yet simple ceremony to officially welcome Finn to the world, and uncle Blake & I as his Godparents.

Now I have to admit, I’m not responsible for these images.. (except if there is a cake in the photo and a couple of others) Morgan (currently studying film at Queensland Collage of Film & Televison) saw my camera, went gooey-eyed over it, so who could deny letting him capture the day?!  And I think I can safely say that he has done an amazing job.  Not to mention that for once, I was in FRONT of the camera.  Now that is slightly rare!  So if the career in film doesn’t work out Morgan, let me know… ;)

And yes, there are more Finn photos to come, of course….

Mr L, 12 Days – Melbourne Baby Photography

When I was young, I had many injuries.  From Dance to Athletics, I did my knees, my ankles, my shins.  Well, the night before this little guys session, I tripped.  Now when I do something, I do it RIGHT.  (Well this is what I LIKE to do! -Just not when I trip)  I braced myself, and yes, ouch.  As with most times we stub our toe we wait for that pain to die off after about 15 seconds.  Well this time, it didn’t.  OH NO!

Mr L’s parents got a slightly early morning phone call before they left for the car ride, asking if we could perhaps make it the next day, as I think I’ve broken something.

Sure enough.  I had.  My big toe.  But just because I do things RIGHT.  It was in the joint.  This then meant that I needed a second opinion to see if I needed surgery.  Yep, on a toe.

I narrowly escaped the surgery (well for now, I see a surgeon next week) but found myself in a half cast, and on crutches.  Feeling mighty sorry for myself.

SO!  With the wonderful help of Miss Bec (our part time assistant) we photographed Mr L the day after.  Now you are not allowed to scroll this post quickly without admiring these eyelashes.  They were the longest a cutest lashes I have ever seen.  Mum seemed quite convinced that he was not going to like the session, as he had shown some great distaste for being undressed.  I love a mission!

(Mum & Dad, I’m listening – totally by chance! – to the Kings now!  I hope you enjoy your preview, and thanks for your patience!)

So on a admin note:  The studio is still available for newborns, and we encourage you to call to enquire about Maternity & Baby sessions.  At this stage due to Gemma’s injury, sessions are only available in the Point Cook studio.

Mr Finn, 20 days – Brisbane Newborn Photography

Yes, I’ve taken my time to blog this post.  It’s sad!!  This was the last photoshoot I did with gorgeous Finn during my time in QLD, at the beach where Mum & Dad had their wedding photos, and also their pregnancy photography shoot (HERE & HERE)

But, never fear, I will be in Brisbane again August, so there will be more photos coming of my #1 model!

If anyone in Brisbane/Gold Coast is interested in organising a photo session with me in August, please contact for details!

Bebe Callan – Melbourne Baby Photography

Together with Janet of Hyggelig Photography, I photographed Nat for a day long Maternity session, indoors and out!  You can see her gorgeous sessions here, here and here!

After the longest labour in living history, Nat gave birth to beautiful little boy, Callan.  Janet & I met up again and photographed little Mr for just over 4 hours!  We had a great time, and having a similar passion for anything French I was quite determined to photograph Callan with one of Nat & Kevin’s many Eiffel Towers they have around their house..

(Want to know the story?  They met on top of the Eiffel Tower.  I mean seriously how romantic can you get!?  Isn’t that every girls dream to meet her prince on top of the Eiffel Tower!??)  So going alone with the french theme, I knitted up one of Amanda Keey’s beautiful beret hats (you can purchase her pattern book HERE), and would you believe I even found a yarn called “Parisian”!  Can’t get more appropriate than that!!

So without further waffling, here is the gorgeous gorgeous bebe Callan :)  I hope you love them Nat & Kev, and also to the many MANY family members who are no doubt spoiling him LOTS!

Mr H, 5 weeks – Melbourne Baby Photography

Mr H, is the baby brother of my son’s best friend from Kinder.  Yes one of those mother’s uncles brothers wifes son kinda story! hehe

Here he is at 5 weeks.  This “session” was one of those, “oh you have half an hour for a quick coffee, fantastic, I’m going to the studio to take photos of him!”  About 20 minutes later, we were finished (thanks to the older boys wanting to know what was going on in the studio)

Amazing how un-planned photo sessions can work out really, really well – and when you have none of the favorite blankets on hand!!
