I was struggling a little with inspiration today. But as Eman jumped on the trampoline, it hit me. Next year we’ll be flying in the sky!

Usually it’s me that gets eaten alive by mosquitoes, and it doesn’t help that I’m allergic to one breed of them (yup, there’s a few, stay away from the stripy ones!) The kids, up until this week have escaped their blood sucking path. Eman scared me one evening at midnight, out of bed, with red dots all over him. “Mum I’m itchy”… well perhaps the 14 bites over your arms and face might be why..

The horrible little insect got him twice on his left eye. The next morning it was slightly less swollen, but made his already LONG eyelashes stick out straight even more. I couldn’t resist. They are lashes every girl dreams of..

Today we surprised the boys with a visit from our friend Bec, who lived with us for over a year when the boys were smaller. Every time they see a plane, Ash will ask if Bec is on that plane. On Friday driving down to Geelong, we passed the freeway exit to Avalon airport and they asked if we were picking up Bec. Well weren’t they surprised this morning when in walked that very person!

I had worked hard all morning to darken the house, so the harsh sun today wouldn’t heat up the house too much, had the cooling and 3 fans pumping the cooler air around, as the temperature soared to 42 degrees (107.6 for those in the states!) Of course Bec loves the heat and somehow convinced us to leave the comfort of the cool house to go for coffee, which is after all something we did a lot!

I have cheated today, and will be posting two images on the page on FACEBOOK, however for here, here’s my favorite of Eman and his iced chocolate.

In Melbourne we’re in the middle of a heatwave, yesterday it reached 34 where we live, which isn’t too bad, but we have a few more days to go! Our evaporative cooling struggles if the heat is blown in by a northerly wind due to the position of our home. The boys played quietly for most of the day (however decided, since it was hot, that it was time to play in costumes, so the famous spiderman made an appearance after a few months off!) and Ash was scooting around on the floor on his back after realising it was too hot to be in costume… I chased him around with the camera, and managed to get a natural smile as he laughed infectiously!

Yesterday our dear friends came over. It was the first time Ash had seen Shae in a while. After a few months of the two of them not getting along so well, it seems that the few months apart (not to mention the fact that Ash now sleeps well due to his recent surgery) have done them good. They are the best of friends. I’ve never seen such excitement as today, when they girls came over again, Ash RUNNING to Shae squealing. Later on Ash was “posing” for me (i.e pulling faces, please see previous posts!) when Shae sat down, and the next thing you know they were hugging. Ash even gave Shae a kiss. But this stole the show:

Christmas Eve! We joined Janet’s family in celebrating, Danish style! The kids had so much fun, playing with little Ayla, unwrapping presents and drawing on the footpath with chalk. After a fantastic evening we heading home, just as Melbourne received a pretty amazing storm. Poor Ash was just beside himself, covering his eyes to shield from the lightning. After a while, he sang out “But mama, what about Santa & the Reindeer?!” It took about half an hour to convince him that Santa would be fine, as Santa is magic. The storms wont hurt him at all!

We put out cookies and milk, left Santa a Christmas card and went off to bed. Asleep before their heads hit the pillow!

Fun in the sunshine – Melbourne Family Photography

Mr. W is nearly 3, and was in my little Ash’s Daycare class until last year… Mum asked me along to take some special portraits for their family as Grandma & Great-Grandma were coming for a visit from New Zealand! We had so much fun on the tractors, feeding the geese, turkey and chickens and just running around. Mr. W got stuck into some chocolate cake while we enjoyed a coffee and the sunshine. I have such a tough job
