It’s a common questions from me:  ”Can I take a photo of you”, today’s response however, was uncommon: “In the studio?” …

Swimming in the pool is very exhausting.  So is playing with friends.  Ash asked for a ‘nap’ and the ipad.  10 minutes later, even that was too exhausting..

Today when you woke up, it seemed you had grown a foot overnight.  The pants you wore last week (your favourites) are suddenly 4 inches too short.  Last year you were one of the shortest at school, I’m wondering if this year you’ll be one of the tallest in your class…

No matter the temperature, my kids want in the pool.  Wrinkly feet, water logged.  Eman’s confidence in the water is already improving, day 1 he put his face in holding his nose, now he can swim underwater the length of the pool (it’s a few metres)  He’s so happy with himself, all I hear is “MUM!  look at this, MUM!  look at me!!”

Every now and again (and during school holidays there are a few of these moments) the boys get on each others nerves.  Ok I’m lying, they are 3 and 5, it’s rather regularly.  Sometimes it will smooth over in a few seconds, some times it’s an all day thing.  And other times all they both want is time by themselves, but they just don’t say that to each other.  I could see one of these moments coming on, and decided to suggest to Ash to relax in Mummy’s bed with the iPad.  He didn’t need to be asked twice.

I was struggling a little with inspiration today.  But as Eman jumped on the trampoline, it hit me.   Next year we’ll be flying in the sky!

Usually it’s me that gets eaten alive by mosquitoes, and it doesn’t help that I’m allergic to one breed of them (yup, there’s a few, stay away from the stripy ones!)  The kids, up until this week have escaped their blood sucking path.  Eman scared me one evening at midnight, out of bed, with red dots all over him.  “Mum I’m itchy”… well perhaps the 14 bites over your arms and face might be why..

The horrible little insect got him twice on his left eye.  The next morning it was slightly less swollen, but made his already LONG eyelashes stick out straight even more.  I couldn’t resist.  They are lashes every girl dreams of..

I’m being naughty again and uploading two images!  For two years I’ve had the mini-pool in the garage waiting for the kids to be a bit older.  I’m a little paranoid around water with children, but after talking to my friend Chrissy, I could not resist.  We came home, and two hours later, the kids jumped in.  The girls raced over as well and we soon had 5 water-logged children splashing about having a ball.  Ash has always been a water-child, and hasn’t had a lot to do with water other than swimming in the bathtub or wading at the beach.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen this child smile and laugh as much as he did today.  He’s so used to be in the nude for bath time that he was NOT interested in a bathing suit!  This first one was the expression on his face 99.95% of the time.  The second, the only time he wasn’t smiling, well because, there was a plane.  And the world stops for planes..

Sweet Miss A, just like your name, you have such a sweet smiley spirit!

the project – day 12 | Melbourne Baby Photographer

Today we surprised the boys with a visit from our friend Bec, who lived with us for over a year when the boys were smaller.  Every time they see a plane, Ash will ask if Bec is on that plane.  On Friday driving down to Geelong, we passed the freeway exit to Avalon airport and they asked if we were picking up Bec.  Well weren’t they surprised this morning when in walked that very person!

I had worked hard all morning to darken the house, so the harsh sun today wouldn’t heat up the house too much, had the cooling and 3 fans pumping the cooler air around, as the temperature soared to 42 degrees (107.6 for those in the states!)  Of course Bec loves the heat and somehow convinced us to leave the comfort of the cool house to go for coffee, which is after all something we did a lot!

I have cheated today, and will be posting two images on the page on FACEBOOK, however for here, here’s my favorite of Eman and his iced chocolate.
