Newborn Twins, 9 days – Newborn Photography Melbourne

I have been look forward to photographing these two for weeks!  It’s been a little while since I’ve photographed newborn twins, a little bit nervous but they were fantastic, sleepy and content.  Photographing one newborn can be hard, but two can be a little bit frightening!   We were also lucky to still have big brother visiting from QLD (who had to leave for the airport around the same time we left!)

I could have happily sat in the living room all day giving these little guys cuddles when we’d finished,  They are just gorgeous!

I hope you enjoy the preview Mum & Dad!

And a big thankyou to Bec for assisting me at the session. xx

Miss G, 4 weeks – Melbourne Baby Photography

I met this gorgeous girl last week, but have been a wee bit behind in blogging!  I mentioned this family previously in my post about my kitty cat Selkie -  how mum & I had been talking about photographing new babies with their older siblings.  Sometimes the most obedient of pets turn camera shy!  Well big brother Boston wasn’t overly keen of the big black thing in front of this crazy photographer lady’s face, however he was a trooper for us and his lovely portrait is at the bottom of the post.

Miss G (lets get back to the star of the shoot) was a fantastic little model for me, at 4 weeks it can be difficult to coax babies off to sleep, however she managed to drift off twice during our session to get some beautiful sleeping shots, as well as capture her personality.

Sorry for the delay, however I hope you enjoy the preview Mum & Dad!

Time for something personal…

Yesterday, I looked jealously at my two cats sleeping peacefully on my bed.

Today, there is only one sleeping on the bed.

Selkie – the kitten I adopted when she was about 8 weeks old, terribly sick from birth, nursed her back to health (both physically and mentally).  It took her a long time to come out from hiding under the bed.   Months for me to even pick her up.  She even “choose” my husband. Selkie , the cat who wouldn’t go near anybody but me, jumped up on Garrison’s lap the first time he “called on me”.  We even remember that and joke about how the cat choose him!

Last night, my husband noticed she was unwell, so unwell she couldn’t stand.  I raced to our room to find her huddled in the corner of our en-suite.  I picked her and she felt like she’d lost half her body weight.  We raced her to the vet – to be referred to the Lort Smith Animal Hospital.

I cannot praise the staff there enough.  They are an amazing organisation that just want the best for our furry & feathery friends.  They admitted her to ICU, and ran emergency blood test.  The outlook wasn’t looking good.  She passed away overnight.  It was sudden.  It’s sad, and we are currently working out how to tell our 3 year old who has been beside himself since Mummy & Daddy raced Selkie off to the “animal hospital”.  We woke this morning asking all about Selkie.

Today, I cannot concentrate on anything.

Only yesterday I was photographing a 4 weeks old girl and her “big brother” the Border Collie, and the family and I were joking how difficult it is to capture our furry family members in a family photo!  And today I realise that I barely have a photo of Selkie .  I just sat at the computer to ponder the image catalogue to find a photo of her.  She wasn’t overly sociable – but I know I’ve taken some.  They are sitting on my personal hard drives.  But for now, I have this one image that my friend Bec Brittliffe took in March.

So the point of my long post is to take photos of your furry family members more often.

RIP on the big couch in the sky Selkie, you will be missed.

Miss M, 3 weeks – Newborn Photography Melbourne

It’s been a while since I photographed a newborn baby girl, so meeting Miss M was a treat!  I think Mum might be in for a ride with this little one, she already knew how to pose for the camera, and we think might have a small wild streak there! For 3 weeks she slept like a 6 day old!

I hope you enjoy the preview Mum & Dad!

37 weeks, Maternity Photography Melbourne

Have to say, as a photographer, this is my favorite maternity session to date.  How many babies do you think?!

Yes – this gorgeous mum is about to have twins!  I couldn’t help but admire you, S, I struggled with one, and yet they are measuring at the same size  – EACH!  All the best and I cannot wait to meet your babies!

Mr A, 13 months – Baby Photography Melbourne

For our fourth session this year, Mr. A certainly made me work hard!  He’s been on the move for a while now and boy oh boy is he quick!  He’s also very good at showing off a range of expressions!!

Thankfully he enjoyed being in boxes and baskets or I’m not sure I would have been able to get many images!  He was much more keen to explore than have his photo taken!!

Lovely to see you again, and I hope you enjoy your preview Mum & Dad! (Told you I got a smile Mum;))

Mr. J, 2 weeks – Newborn Photography Melbourne

This gorgeous boy was just 2 weeks old at his session.  Without a fuss he went off to sleep and pretty much stayed that way for the whole time!  The weather turned a little dark on us at one stage and could quite wet and windy outside!

Was lovely to meet you all, I hope you enjoy the preview Mum & Dad!

Miss F – 19 months – Melbourne Child Photography

This gorgeous girl certainly kept us on our toes!  This is the second time I’ve photographed Miss F, firstly when she was just 3 months old.  Not much of a preview as Mum has seen the whole gallery!  Sorry for the delay, but I hope you enjoy anyway!

37 Weeks – Melbourne Maternity Photography

I’ve known this family for nearly 3 years now, having photographed Miss ‘soon to be big sister’ when she was just 8 weeks old.  Then Mum & Dad’s wedding almost 2 years ago.  Number 2 is on the way, and I cannot wait to photograph the bun in a few weeks!

I’ve kept Mum waiting on this preview.. and after some very sad news this week, I hope these put a smile on your face.   Take care xxx

(This last photo is very sentimental to Mum – her grandmother made this jacket secretly just before she died, and then it was presented to Mum when Miss A was born.  We HAD to photograph it!)   Hope you enjoy the preview Mum xxx

ETA:  Had to add this last image of Miss A – she is just too cute!

“On a dark and rainy day” 6 days old – Melbourne Newborn Photography

Knowing this gorgeous house had a large gorgeous window, I wasn’t *too* worried about the light.  But being a tad partial to natural light for newborn photography, a dark and rainy day like last Saturday is always a little bit scary!  At as you’ll see, we had a beautiful LARGE window to use.  But even then, for ten minutes, the weather turned totally dark on us like it was 5pm!

I met Mum, Dad & big brother for Mum’s maternity session, and if they would let me could quite happy take up residence in their main bedroom as my studio!  It’s just beautiful.  So little Mr. here was 6 days old for his session, and had the smoothest clear skin I’ve ever seen on a newborn.  He was a good little baby to photograph, pausing only for feeding, and barely heard a peep out of him.And just for you Dad, we got a few shots with big sister!  I hope you enjoy the preview Mum & Dad!

Mr. M – 16 days old – Melbourne Newborn Photography

Ok this little guy was a total dream.  I could have seriously photographed him all week!  (and I think Mum & Dad were starting to think they were never going to be able to leave!)  Just as we thought he was waking up, he’d open his eyes for a second or two and off to sleep he would go… again!

And how super gorgeous is he!?

Hope you enjoy your preview Mum & Dad!

Mr J – 1 year – Melbourne Baby Photography

Belated preview for Mr J!  This little guy is so soulful, and serious.. but has the most gorgeous smile..  I’ve photographed him a few times, and I think this was the most fun for him, getting to pull apart a birthday cake!

I hope you enjoy your preview Mum & Dad!
