Yearly Archives: 2009

Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick admin note to say that the office of Iris Creations Photography is officially closed for the holidays!

I hope that everyone has a WONDERFUL Christmas & a Very Happy (and SAFE) New Year.

We will be taking “emergency” calls and emails during this time, and by emergency, we refer to newborn sessions, Babies UNDER two weeks.  If your baby is born, please call ASAP to schedule your session.  We will be only offering STUDIO session (in Point Cook) during this time.

I’d also like to thank all my clients for their patience and understanding during the last two months, and especially with the latest dramas caused by the postal strike.  I hope that the working conditions and discussions go well for all involved, and that all mail and parcels are delivered ASAP!

The office will be closed for most of January, however calls and emails will be returned as soon as possible.  Voice mails and emails will not be checked on a daily basis.

2009 has been an amazing year, and 2010 will be just as exciting.  We have photographed many families, bellies and especially all our beautiful precious newborns!  If you are considering holding a session soon, please contact us to arrange as many dates in 2010 are already booking.

In the new year I will be showcasing a highlight package of 2009, and more exciting things are coming!  Of course thePROJECT is still going, and will be for the rest of summer, and I have lots of sessions still to showcase on the blog from the last (busy) two months!

And now, I’d like to showcase a modified version of our family Christmas Card (and especially for those family and friends who haven’t received theirs yet – SORRY!)  As many of my readers know my children are not fans of the camera, however I think we did fairly well to put the card together!

Once again, Merry Christmas!

Another instalment!

Slowly I’m getting Eman used to the idea of the camera.  Sometimes it takes a lot, but when you get images like this first one, it makes it all worth it!

Then it’s a cutee sleeping..

Ashton “rockin it out” in guitar hero

Eman with his new Wall-e computer toy.  It’s a laptop, and therefore he tells me that he has to do “work, just like you mummy”

And Ash relaxing on his new couch.  I had a great image which I would love to use, however for Ash’s privacy I wont publically, but, it’s a gorgeous image of him after his bath on his vintage toy car.  I might try to replicate the image only less, stark!

So, until the next addition, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas, and all the shopping is getting done!

thePROJECT – Melbourne Baby Photography

Another installment.. Been an interesting few days weather wise!  From 39.2 degrees, to COLD and RAIN.

FUN!

Having already said goodnight… someone was still playing.. I believe the bed was being used as a trampoline!

Yesterday with the help of Bec, the boys sorted out the playroom/office into just a playroom.  (Or should I say Bec did and the boys got in the way??!)  I totally LOVE the brightness of this image.  Shows how bright this room can be when I take the curtains down that prevented me from being able to work in that room during the day!

And finally, TV coma… and what matchbox toys are really for (when no one is “looking”)

Miss A, 6 weeks – Melbourne Baby Photography

Little Miss A was a little gorgeous thing.  At 6 weeks we could be a little creative and have a cross between newborn style posing and the “older” baby session.  She was a good girl, and I have been informed slept beautifully all the way home!

Newborn Twins – Melbourne Newborn Photography

These two are just gorgeous, and Mum is totally my new hero.  Both babies weighed over 7 pounds, and were born at 36 weeks!  They were individually bigger than my second born, and I struggled with him!

These gorgeous babies were co-photographed with dear friend Janet from Hyggelig Photography. And yes, it’s a bit overdue that I blog this session, I think I did promise to do so a WHILE ago.. but that’s what happens at this time of year!!!

Dec 14th – Uncle Richie came for a visit today.  If my kids are this good all the time, I might keep him around a lot more!  Lots of laughter!  Off frame, Eman is pulling faces at Uncle Richie…

Miss A, 4 weeks – Melbourne Newborn Photography

This little girl was just adorable!  And to make the day even better, it was nice enough to head outdoors, something I LOVE to do during the warmer months!

Was nice to have fellow photographer Ev along for the session (ok he knew Mum…) Always amusing when a photographer of a different genre gets a taste at something different.  Although I think Ev will be sticking to land/seascapes rather than newborn babies!  Was nice to sort of blend the two of our specialities for this session.

Lovely to meet you Mum, I hope you enjoy the preview!

the PROJECT (cont) – Melbourne Baby Photography

I’m really enjoying this project!  (Although I’m not sure the children are.  Poor Eman is getting a bit tired of seeing my camera in his face all the time,  I’ve spoken to Santa about perhaps one for Christmas.. a child’s camera of course)

I wanted to keep this project very real.  So first up we have Ash, not impressed about being told to sit down in the bath.  (Cause that is worth a tantrum don’t you think?!)

Eman, having fun at the park

Then proving how much he loves the camera.  Lying down on the Guitar Hero guitar with the comments of “I’m too tired for photos” (in a VERY dramatic voice)

Ash in total posing mode,

and lastly, playing with a jack-in-the-box in his cot.

So that was this week, stay tuned for a few more catch up blog “previews” and another installment of the PROJECT.

Miss P – 7 Months – Melbourne Baby Photography

I’m GETTING there with blog previews.  Playing MAJOR catch up!  Most of my clients have seen their galleries already, so it’s more a case of sharing them here, because let me tell you, I have photographed some SERIOUSLY gorgeous babies over the last few weeks!

Here is gorgeous Miss P, who was also photographed at 10days & 5months.  Sure Mum & Dad will agree that she is growing up too fast!

Summer Photo-A-Day – Melbourne Baby Photography

Day 7.

Well this deserved it’s own post.  Why?

Well.

1) As any parent will know, getting 18 months olds to do what you ask, is not easy.  They KNOW what your saying, but still pretend they don’t.

2) As any photographer will tell you, asking your OWN CHILD, to do something is even harder.  THEN try suggesting he kiss his best friend / neighbour / future wife.  Yep not easy.

3) do both the above WITH your camera in hand.

Yep… check it out.  Not the most technically brilliant photographs in the world.  but THERE, it happened…  TWICE!

Summer Photo-A-Day project – Melbourne Baby Photography

Sorry, lately the blog has been a LITTLE neglected.  I have so many sessions to share, but it’s been flat out so hopefully very shortly I’ll be sharing some more previews.

In the meantime, some of my regular blog readers will remember that last January I had a project “photo-a-day” project.  Well this year I’m being more adventurous.  A photo a day for the entire of summer!  As a photographer, I often forget or simply don’t want to take my camera out at home, or *try* to take formal portraits of my children.  Why? Basically, E-man doesn’t like the camera, and Ash, well he’s starting to follow big brother on everything, and much to my dismay, the camera is in that category.

SO, this will be my little summer project.  (little .. she says)

I hope to upload the images once a week, if more more often.  I hope you enjoy, and encourage anyone and everyone to try the same!  It’s fun!

So:  the first 6 days of Summer!

Miss E, 2 weeks – Melbourne Baby Photography

Dad did tell me on the phone that Miss E was very alert.  Being she was under two weeks, I didn’t believe him.  Then she arrived at the studio.  And yes.  He was right!  VERY alert!  But so content and settled.  Unlike most newborns her age, she was happy and relaxed being awake, and enjoyed every second of her session.  Until she decided that enough was enough.  I’m hungry!

Thanks for taking the long drive to the studio Mum & Dad, Miss E is just gorgeous!

in a little town called Timbarra… Destination Wedding Photography

EKKK I’m behind on blogging again!  lots to post, however for now here’s a small (well it was going to be a small taste) taste of the gorgeous wedding Janet & I of LE Photography photographed a few weeks ago..

I love weddings that are unique, you know the feeling as a guest, your see your family and/or friends getting married, declaring their love and it being about THEM –  Every detail is unique to THEM.  Well this wedding takes the cake.   Firstly, the wedding was held in Timbarra, a tiny “town” pretty much in the middle on NOWHERE, with 2 permanent households.  Bring on a wedding, and the populartion soared to over 150!

Brooke & Minas met in this tiny natural haven, and therefore that’s where they got married.  Everything was just perfect!!  Enjoy the visual feast!

Tunnels & Thankfullness

Well as most of my clients and family & friends know, it’s been a tough November, and a BUSY one!  So here it is Saturday night, and I thought I’d make a personal post for a change! (there will be a lot more of this month’s previews coming soon!)

Firstly, thanks to my wonderful Mother-in-law for all your help – firstly flying in from New Zealand, but for keeping us all sane, in a clean house (I swear I’m TRYING to keep it the same), fed, cupboard STOCKED (never seen so much bread in the deep freeze) and happy.  While I worked non-stop for the end of October and most of this month, she kept this house running, and helped nurse (when he let us) my husband from two surgeries in a week, with a more interesting outlook on the recovery road, which will be fine!

So my poor boys have had a confusing month, people coming, going, staying away, hospitals, sore daddies who can’t play games and the best food ever!

I thought I’d post a few images I found from a month ago of Ashton.  (Emerson refused this day to be photographed)  I have a THING for photographing this tunnel.  Don’t know why.  Just do.  It’s funky, it keeps my models entertained, and brings a sense of adventure!  So here’s some tunnel images, of Ash!
